The Pop Gods are smiling down upon us today as Britney Spears announced the name of her forthcoming album, Glory, along with the release date, currently set for August 26(23 days away if you’re counting). It was also announced that the album will be available for pre order tonight, and eager fans will be treated to an instant download of another song entitled, “Private Show”.

This news comes a couple weeks after the release of the lead single, “Make Me…” featuring rapper G-Eazy. Since the release, the song has failed to have the impact of past Spears lead singles, but hopefully things will change in the coming weeks.

Personally, I think having the release of the album so close to the release of the first single is smart. Britney Spears is an artist who probably doesn’t need a long promotional campaign to sell an album. If fact, those months long waits for the album seem to have become a bad idea for most artists for various reasons.

I for one am excited about this news. I have been a lifelong Britney fan, and I can’t wait to see the direction of Glory. However, I hope it’s not the same as “Make Me…”. I never listen to the song because I want to, I listen to it in hopes that I’ll begin to like it more. So far, that has not happened.

Glory can be preordered tonight on Apple Music with an instant download of “Private Show”. The album will go on sale on August 26th!
